Pupils from eleven schools were presented with awards on July 9 at York House by the Mayor Cllr Martin Seymour in recognition of their involvement in gardening and conservation enterprises within the school grounds. The annual school gardening competition is run by Richmond Borough in Bloom and sponsored by Squire’s Garden Centre. The overall winner’s trophy, gold certificate and £100 gardening vouchers went to Hampton Hill Junior School.

Runner-up was Carlisle Infant School, winning gold and a £75 gardening voucher and a third place went to Chase Bridge School, winning gold and a £50 voucher.

Certificates commemorating Silver Gilt were awarded to Strathmore, Meadlands, Holy Trinity, Hampton Junior, Trafalgar Infant and Stanley Primary Schools. St Catherine’s and St Mary Magdalen Schools were awarded Silver.

A special trophy was awarded to St Mary Magdalen for its Anniversary Floral Display bed in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of Richmond Borough in Bloom. Picture shows three of the pupils with this unique trophy.
